Paul spent most of his childhood playing sandlot baseball and hunting in the woods surrounding the small village of Joffre, PA in Washington County, located about three miles east of the borough of Burgettstown, PA. He graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown in 1959 and went on to attend Waynesburg College, studying business and earning a Bachelor’s degree in 1964. He played baseball at Waynesburg College as well, earning an MVP award, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. After college, he wed his longtime sweetheart Kathie Homitz in a ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown on August 13, 1966.
The couple soon relocated to the South Hills, finally settling in Bethel Park. Most of Paul’s career was spent working in finance at Consol Energy. An avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, Paul continued to also play sports throughout his adulthood including bowling, softball, racquetball and golf. He devoted countless hours to coaching both his son and daughter in baseball through the Bethel Park Baseball Association.
Paul enjoyed a long retirement golfing on the links of Myrtle Beach, SC, partying through happy hour and inappropriately joking with his longtime friends and fraternity brothers.
